A beautiful wedding day rarely comes down to luck. It comes down to a timeline that gives every moment room to breathe. After photographing many celebrations, I have learned that the most relaxed couples are not the ones with the busiest schedules – they are the ones who planned a little space between each part of the day.
Start with the moments that matter most
Before you think about hours and minutes, decide what you never want to miss. Maybe it is a first look, a portrait with your grandparents, or time alone together before the reception. Write those down first, and build the rest of the day around them.

Give getting ready a little extra time
Hair and makeup almost always take longer than planned. Adding a cushion of 20 to 30 minutes here means you can sit with your morning instead of rushing through it – and those quiet, unhurried moments make some of the most honest photographs of the day.
Protect time for portraits
Portraits never feel rushed when they have their own place in the schedule. Even 20 to 30 minutes together, away from the crowd, can give you a collection that feels calm, elegant and completely you.

Chase the light
If you can, plan a short portrait break around sunset. Ten minutes in soft evening light can create images that feel like a scene from a film – warm, romantic and unforgettable.

A simple checklist
- List your must-have moments before anything else.
- Add a buffer of 15 to 30 minutes between major parts of the day.
- Schedule family photos right after the ceremony while everyone is together.
- Plan a short sunset portrait break.
- Share your final timeline with your photographer and planner a few weeks before.
Every timeline is different, and part of my process is helping you shape yours. If you would like a calm, beautifully planned day, I would love to hear about it – inquire about your date.
